HELP
When searching in FHPKat+, you can choose between a quick "Simple Search" and an "Advanced Search" with more linking options. Instructions for off-campus full-text access can be found below.
You can choose between three different search areas (tabs):
-
In the "FHP-Catalog" (FHPKat) you can search the printed and electronic holdings of
the library of the Potsdam University of Applied Sciences.
To get information about the location, the location mark and the loan status, please click on the button "Availability".
To access the full text of eBooks, click on "Link to full text" on the right-hand side of the page. In this tab you will also find selected national licences (journal articles, journals and electronic books). -
In the tab "Online articles" you can search for journal articles. The articles are
either licensed by FH Potsdam or freely available online, so you have access to the full text. To
do so, click on "Link to full text" in the right-hand section of the page.
The link "Availability (electronic)" leads to the EZB, the link "Availability (electronic/print)" leads to the ZDB.
Please note: You will also find articles from journals here that we only hold in printed form (i.e. you do not get access to the full text). In this case, please search for the journal title in the 1st tab "FHP catalog" to get the location/location mark displayed. - In the tab "Interlibrary loan" you can search the holdings of all six library networks in Germany in order to initiate one or more interlibrary loans (only for registered users of the library of the Potsdam University of Applied Sciences).
When switching from the "FHP-catalog" search to the "Online article" search or to the "Interlibrary loan", the search terms are automatically transferred so that a comparison of the results is possible.
When the list of results is displayed, various filters appear on the left-hand side for further narrowing down or targeted selection.
The list of results is automatically sorted according to the relevance of the titles. However, a different sorting (e.g. by year) can be set (button at the top left).
Access to full texts off campus (remote access)
If you cannot access the full texts from off campus, please use the following solutions:
-
1. Institutional access to the publisher's website (Shibboleth access)
If you have arrived at the publisher's page by clicking on "Full text", many providers give you the option of logging in via the institution, i.e. via the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam.
To do this, look for the institutional login on the publisher's page. Select "Fachhochschule Potsdam" there. You will then be directed to the login page for the SSO (Shibboleth) of the Potsdam University of Applied Sciences and please log in with your campus account.
If you have any problems, please use the detailed instructions in the Moodle course "Library research and training materials". -
2. Access via the EZProxy server of the university library
In the hit list, there are various links on the right-hand side, including "Availability electronic". If you click on it, you will be redirected to the Electronic Journals Library (EZB). This will show you whether the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam has licensed the journal in question. If you click on the title of the journal, a login window will open. Please enter your library user number (11-digit, on the back of your campus card) + password (your date of birth, day + month, 4-digit TTMM).
After logging in, you will have access to the full texts. To do so, browse the respective year archive to the corresponding volume/year, issue and title of the article you found.
If you have any problems, please use the detailed instructions in the Moodle course "Library research and training materials".
